THE CHRISTMAS STORY
มธ 2:1 อยู่มาคราวนั้น
มีรับสั่งจากซีซาร์
ออกัสตัส ให้จดทะเบียนสำมะโนครัวทั่วทั้งแผ่นดิน
2:2 (นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่ได้จดทะเบียนสำมะโนครัว
เมื่อคีรินิอัสเป็นเจ้าเมืองซีเรีย)
2:3 คนทั้งปวงต่างคนต่างได้ไปขึ้นทะเบียนยังเมืองของตน
2:4 ฝ่ายโยเซฟก็ขึ้นไปจากเมืองนาซาเร็ธแคว้นกาลิลีถึงเมืองของดาวิด
ชื่อเบธเลเฮมแคว้นยูเดียด้วย
(เพราะว่าเขาเป็นวงศ์วานและเชื้อสายของดาวิด)
2:5 เขาได้ไปกับมารีย์ที่เขาได้หมั้นไว้แล้ว
เพื่อจะขึ้นทะเบียนและนางมีครรภ์
2:6 เมื่อเขาทั้งสองยังอยู่ที่นั่น
ก็ถึงเวลาที่มารีย์จะประสูติบุตร
2:7 นางจึงประสูติบุตรชายหัวปี
เอาผ้าอ้อมพันและวางไว้ในรางหญ้า
เพราะว่าไม่มีที่ว่างให้เขาในโรงแรม
ทูตสวรรค์ประกาศแก่พวกผู้เลี้ยงแกะ
2:8 ในแถบนั้น มีคนเลี้ยงแกะอยู่ในทุ่งนา
เฝ้าฝูงแกะของเขาในเวลากลางคืน
2:9 ดูเถิด มีทูตสวรรค์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ามาปรากฏแก่เขา
และรัศมีขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าส่องล้อมรอบเขา
และเขากลัวนัก 2:10 ฝ่ายทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นกล่าวแก่เขาว่า
"อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะดูเถิด
เรานำข่าวดีมายังท่านทั้งหลาย
คือความปรีดียิ่งซึ่งจะมาถึงคนทั้งปวง
2:11 เพราะว่าในวันนี้พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของท่านทั้งหลาย
คือพระคริสต์เจ้า มาบังเกิดที่เมืองดาวิด
2:12 นี่จะเป็นหมายสำคัญแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย
คือท่านจะได้พบพระกุมารนั้นพันผ้าอ้อมนอนอยู่ในรางหญ้า"
2:13 ทันใดนั้น มีชาวสวรรค์หมู่หนึ่งมาอยู่กับทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นร่วมสรรเสริญพระเจ้าว่า
2:14 "รัศมีภาพจงมีแด่พระเจ้าในที่สูงสุด
และบนแผ่นดินโลกจงมีสันติสุข
และสันถวไมตรีจงมีแด่มนุษย์ทั้งปวง"
2:15 ต่อมาเมื่อทูตสวรรค์เหล่านั้นไปจากเขาขึ้นสู่สวรรค์แล้ว
พวกเลี้ยงแกะได้พูดกันว่า
"บัดนี้ให้เราไปยังเมืองเบธเลเฮม
ดูเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นนั้น
ซึ่งองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ทรงแจ้งแก่เรา"
2:16 เขาก็รีบไปแล้วพบนางมารีย์กับโยเซฟและพบพระกุมารนั้นนอนอยู่ในรางหญ้า
2:17 ครั้นเขาได้เห็นแล้ว
จึงเล่าเรื่องซึ่งเขาได้ยินถึงพระกุมารนั้น
2:18 คนทั้งปวงที่ได้ยินก็ประหลาดใจด้วยเนื้อความที่คนเลี้ยงแกะได้บอกแก่เขา
2:19 ฝ่ายนางมารีย์ก็เก็บบรรดาสิ่งเหล่านี้ไว้ในใจ
และรำพึงอยู่ 2:20 คนเลี้ยงแกะจึงกลับไปยกย่องสรรเสริญพระเจ้า
เพราะเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงซึ่งเขาได้ยินและได้เห็น
ดังได้กล่าวไว้แก่เขาแล้ว
พระกุมารเยซูทรงเข้าสุหนัต
(ลก 1:59) 2:21 ครั้นครบแปดวันแล้ว
เป็นวันให้พระกุมารนั้นเข้าสุหนัต
เขาจึงให้นามว่า เยซู
ตามซึ่งทูตสวรรค์ได้กล่าวไว้ก่อนยังมิได้ปฏิสนธิในครรภ์
Luke 2:1-21 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus,
that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to
be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto
the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his
espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should
be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because
there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over
their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and
they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall
be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be
a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel
a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward
men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now
go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with
haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying
which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the
shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising
God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the
circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
