เมื่อใดที่ผมคิดถึงการที่พระองค์เสด็จจากสวงสวรรค์อันสูงส่งมาอยู่ในหมู่คนต่ำต้อยเช่นผม และรับความอัปยศอดสูแทนผมบนภูเขาแควาลี ผมมักถามตนเองว่า "ผมเป็นใครกัน"

ผมเป็นใครกันที่กระษัตริย์ควรหลั่งโลหิตและตายแทน ?

ผมเป็นใครกันที่พระองค์ต้องมาอฐิษฐานว่า

"ไม่ใช่ตามใจจองข้าพระองค์ แต่ขอให้เป็น

ไปตามน้ำพระทัยของพระองค์"

คำตอบของมันผมไม่อาจรู้ได้ว่า

ทำไมพระองค์ถึงรักผมหนักหนาจนถึงกับ

ยอมตายบนกางเขนโบราณเพื่อผม

เมื่อผมนึกถึงพระคำของพระองค์

"เราจะไม่ละทิ้งเจ้า"

"ถ้าเจ้าจริงใจ เราจะให้ชีวิตแก่เจ้าตลอดไป"

โอ มันช่างน่าอัศจรรย์เช่นนั้น ที่ไม่รู้ว่าผมได้ทำอะไร

ถึงสมควรที่ได้พระบุตรองค์เดียว

มาสูศึกจนได้ชัยชนะ

ผมเป็นใคร ?

ผมเป็นใครกันที่กระษัตริย์ควรหลั่งโลหิตและตายแทน ?

ผมเป็นใครกันที่พระองค์ต้องมาอฐิษฐานว่า

"ไม่ใช่ตามใจจองข้าพระองค์ แต่ขอให้เป็น

ไปตามน้ำพระทัยของพระองค์"

ผมไม่ทราบคำตอบว่า

ทำไมพระองค์จึงรักผมเช่นนั้น

จนยอมไปที่กางเขนแทนผม

ผมเป็นใคร ?

Who am I?
