THE GOOD NEWS

WE ARE LOVED - God loves us, and created us to be in a personal relationship with Him.

God loves us: John 3.16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Life is found in knowing God: John 17.3 – Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

WE ARE SEPARATED - People are sinful, and because of this sin, we are separated from God and cannot know Him personally or experience His love.

We’ve all sinned: Romans 3.23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The punishment for sin is death: Romans 6.23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God wants to be in a relationship with us, but our sin, which can be anything from active rebellion against God to passive indifference towards God, makes it impossible for us to have fellowship with God. Our own efforts to reach God, like trying to live a good life or pursuing philosophy/religion, will always fail. Like the diagram to the right, even the best of us can’t bridge the gap between us and God through our own efforts.

What’s more, our sin deserves death; we are guilty of a crime and have been sentenced to eternal punishment.

Jesus died in our place:
Romans 5.8 – But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus rose from the dead:
1 Corinthians 15.3-6 – ...Christ died for our sins...He was buried,...He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,...He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred....

Jesus is the only way to God:
John 14.6 – Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Our crime (our sin) sentenced us to death and separation from God. But Jesus came and took the punishment for us on the cross so we wouldn’t have to. He then rose from the dead to show His power over death. Because Jesus died in our place, our sin can be forgiven – the punishment that we were supposed to receive because of our sin was cancelled. Like the diagram to the right shows, Jesus bridged the gulf between us and God when He died in our place to pay the penalty for our sin. He is the only way to God.

HOW DO I BECOME A CHRISTIAN?

ในการเป็นคริสเตียน สิ่งแรกที่เราต้องทำคือ เชื่อในเนื้อหาสาระของศาสนาคริสต์ : พระเจ้ารักท่าน และต้องการมีความสัมพันธ์ส่วนตัวกับท่าน

เราทั้งหลายล้วนถูกตัดขาดจากพระเจ้า เพราะความบาปของเรา ดังนั้น เราจึงไม่อาจประสพกับความชื่นชมยินดีในความสัมพันธ์กับพระเจ้าได้

พระคัมภีร์สอนว่า เพียงแค่มีความเชื่อง่ายๆเท่านั้นที่เป็นเงื่อนไขที่จะได้รับความ

ตัวอย่างที่ดีที่สุดจะพบได้ในพระธรรมโรม 10:9-10 “คือว่าถ้าท่านจะรับด้วยปากของท่านว่า พระเยซูทรงเป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และเชื่อในจิตใจว่าพระเจ้าได้ทรงชุบพระองค์ให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย ท่านจะรอด ด้วยว่าความเชื่อด้วยใจนำไปสู่ความชอบธรรม และการยอมรับสัจจะของพระเจ้าด้วยปากก็นำไปสู่ความรอด

T(Turn) ตัว ที หมายถึง เสียใจที่ทำบาป เราสามารถเสียใจที่ทำบาป หรือหันหลังให้บาป และจากการพึ่งตนเอง เพื่อตัวเอง พระธรรมลูกา 13:3b กล่าวว่า “ แต่ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายมิได้กลับใจใหม่ จะต้องพินาศเหมือนกัน “ พระธรรมโรม 10:9 สอนว่าจะทำเช่นนี้ได้อย่างไร “คือว่าถ้าท่านจะรับด้วยปากของท่านว่า พระเยซูทรงเป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และเชื่อในจิตใจว่า พระเจ้าได้ทรงชุบพระองค์ให้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตาย ท่านจะรอด “

Becoming a Christian is simple...in that God, thankfully, has not created an elaborate, complex process for those who want to follow Him. According to what He says in the Bible, there are two basic things we must do:

The first thing we must do to become a Christian is to believe the message of Christianity:

God loves you and wants to be in a personal relationship with Him

We are all separated from God because of our sin...so we can't enjoy this relationship with Him
Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin on the cross so that we can be reconciled to God and enjoy a relationship with Him

The Bible says that simple belief is what is required to receive His gift of salvation:

John 3.1-21 – “...that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life...For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life...Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”

John 11.25 – Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.”

Acts 16.31 – They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved...”

As a result of what we believe in our head, we must respond to those beliefs. This looks different for different people in different cultures and times.

For some, a belief that goes beyond just intellectual understanding constitutes "response". However, most people will naturally respond in additional ways that indicate a heart-felt belief; a prayer, baptism, indicating their decision to follow God at a church service, or other actions are often ways people respond in a more concrete way.

This is best exemplified in Romans 10.9-10 – "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Both belief and "confessing with your mouth" (outward response - prayer, baptism, indicating your decision at a church service...or, the lesser common, standing up and boldly, confidently proclaiming "Jesus is Lord") are important.

The external response is less important than the internal response. However, most people find it helpful to be able to point to a time in their life when they chose to follow God. For that reason, you are encouraged to at least speak to God on the issue in prayer. Just tell Him what you think. Again, the words you choose are less important than the condition of your heart: there are no "magic words" that will automatically save us or prevent us from being saved if we don't utter them. But here is a "sample prayer" that you can use to help you if you wish:

"Jesus, I want to know you. I want you to come into my life. I'm sorry for the things I've done that have broken my relationship with God. Thank you for dying on the cross so that this relationship could be made right. I believe You are the only One who can do this. Only You can give me the power to change and become the person You created me to be. Thank you for forgiving my past mistakes and for giving me eternal life with God. I give my life to You. Please do with it as You wish. Amen."

God's Plan

What do you think it takes for someone to get to heaven? Is it luck? Good deeds? Nothing at all? Or is there something more? The Bible has the real answer to this question. It's a matter of FAITH.

F stands for FORGIVENESS. We cannot have eternal life without God's forgiveness. Ephesians 1:7a says, "In Him (Jesus Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins."

A is for AVAILABLE. Forgiveness is available for all. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." But forgiveness is not automatic. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven," says Matthew 7:21a.

I is for IMPOSSIBLE. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven because of who He is and because of who we are. God is loving and just, but His judgment is against sin. James 2:13a says, "Because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful." We are sinful people. Romans 3:23 tells us, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

T is for TURN. To turn means to repent. We can repent -- or turn -- from our sin and from ourselves. "But unless you repent, you too will all perish," Luke 13:3b says. We can also turn to Someone. Trust Christ alone. Romans 10:9 tells us how: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

H is for HEAVEN. Heaven is eternal life. Here, that means life "to the full:" "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10b)." In the hereafter, it means the promise of heaven: "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am (John 14:3)."

So how can a person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord? By trusting in Christ and asking Him for forgiveness. Take the step of faith described by another meaning of FAITH: Forsaking All I Trust Him.

You do this through a simple prayer reflecting your desire for Christ to change your life. You don't need fancy words--only an honest heart. You can pray something like this:

Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and have displeased You in many ways. I believe You died for my sin, and only through faith in Your death and resurrection can I be forgiven. I want to turn from my sin and ask You to come into my life as my Savior and Lord. From this day on, I will follow You by living a life that pleases You. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me. Amen.

Accepting Christ is just the beginning of a wonderful adventure with God! Get to know Him better in a number of ways:

Follow Christ's example in baptism.
Join a church where you can worship God and grow in your faith.
In your church, get involved in Sunday School and Bible study.

สิ่งที่คนเข้าใจผิด

“ ถ้าผมประพฤติดี ผมจะได้ไปสวรรค์.”

ดูคำสอนจากพระธรรม เอเฟซัส 2:8-9 "ด้วยว่าซึ่งเราทั้งหลายรอดนั้นก็ด้วยโดยพระคุณเพราะความเชื่อ และมิใช่โดยตัวเราทั้งหลายกระทำเอง แต่พระเจ้าทรงประทานให้ ความรอดนั้นจะเนื่องด้วยการกระทำก็หามิได้ เพื่อมิให้คนหนึ่งคนใดอวดได้" ทิตัส3:5 กล่าวไว้คล้ายๆกันว่า "พระองค์ได้ทรงช่วยเราให้รอด มิใช่ด้วยการกระทำที่ชอบธรรมของเราเอง แต่พระองค์ทรงพระกรุณาชำระให้เรามีใจบังเกิดใหม่ และทรงสร้างเราขึ้นมาใหม่โดยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์"

ความเป็นจริง

พระคัมภีร์สอนไว้ชัดเจนว่า เราไม่ได้รอดพ้นความผิดบาปด้วยลำแข้งของเรา มิฉนั้นแล้วเราจะโอ้อวดได้ว่า "ข้าแน่" ไม่ต้องพึ่งพระเจ้า ความประพฤติดีเป็นผลพวงจากการรอดพ้นความผิดบาป มิใช่เป็นเหตุให้รอดพ้นความผิดบาป แต่เป็นที่น่าเสียใจที่หลายคนยังสับสนในเรื่องนี้

การไปสวรรค์เป็นจุดแห่งการรอดพ้นความผิดบาป หรือ การ หรือ การเป็นคริสเตียนเป็นตั๋วฟรีไปสวรรค์ ?

ความเป็นจริง

ถ้าคุณคิดว่าสวรรค์เป็นเป้าหมายของการรอดพ้นความผิดบาป คุณผิดถนัด ! คุณกำลังจะพลาดสิ่งที่พระเจ้ามีไว้เพื่อคุณ ณ บัดนี้ ! เมื่อเราได้กลับใจใหม่ เรารอดพ้นจากนรก แต่ที่สำคัญไปยิ่งกว่านั้นคือ เรารอดพ้นจากอำนาจธรรมชาติบาปในชีวิต - นั้นคือความรอดทำให้เราเปลี่ยนวิถีชีวิต และช่วยให้เรามีเป้าหมายในชีวิต นอกจากรอดพ้นจากสิ่งเหล่านี้แล้ว ความรอดยังทำให้เรามีความสัมพันธ์อันแสนวิเศษกับพระเจ้า เพราะพระคริสต์ได้ทำเพื่อเราบนกางเขน

“If I’m good I’ll go to heaven.”

Ephesians 2.8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.

Titus 3.5 – He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit...

The Reality: The Bible makes it clear that we are not saved because of anything we do – otherwise, as Paul says in the verse above, we could boast that we got to heaven on our own, without God’s grace. Good behavior is a result of salvation, not the cause of it – unfortunately too many people get this confused!

“Going to heaven is the point of getting saved.” or
“Becoming a Christian is a ‘free ticket’ to heaven.”

The Reality: If you think that heaven is the ultimate goal of salvation, you’re completely missing out on what God has for you NOW! When we repent of our sin, we are saved from hell, but more importantly, we are saved from the power of sin in our life – that means salvation causes a change in the way we live and gives us a purpose in life. Besides being saved from these things, salvation entitles us to a wonderful, personal relationship with God because of what Christ did for us on the cross.

In addition to all that is gained in this life from living God’s way, the Bible teaches that believers will be rewarded in heaven for the things they do on earth. This fact may not directly motivate us to obey God and pursue a relationship with Him, but knowing that we are still accountable for what we do on earth even after we become a Christian will impact our decisions and actions. When we are saved, we’re given eternal life (heaven), but what we do with our life after salvation is rewarded (but not punished) by God. These two verses discuss this “judgement” for Christians:

1 Corinthians 3.11-15 – For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

1 Corinthians 5.10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
